Unisys partners with Paysafe and NQCC to pioneer quantum-enhanced fraud detection
mars 25, 2025
Financial security demands complex pattern recognition beyond what traditional binary systems can process. Unisys is answering this challenge with advanced quantum capabilities.
Unisys has joined forces with Paysafe and the U.K.'s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC) to develop quantum-powered fraud detection. The goal is to enhance anomaly detection in financial transactions, leading to more effective fraud prevention and anti-money laundering processes.
As financial crime grows increasingly sophisticated, quantum computing's ability to process multiple states simultaneously creates new possibilities for security teams. This approach aims to identify suspicious patterns that traditional systems may miss, giving financial institutions an edge against evolving threats.
"Collaboration between companies, governments and technology providers is essential to harness quantum advancements effectively,” said Alan Osborne, chief information security officer at Paysafe. “The Unisys-Paysafe-NQCC partnership highlights the important role quantum computing will play in progressive security innovation and fraud prevention research."
This initiative builds upon Unisys' ongoing work with the NQCC, where the company showcased its quantum computing advances at the inauguration of NQCC's new facility in October 2024. As a leader in the practical application of quantum technology, Unisys has already developed quantum solutions for logistics optimization and a proof-of-concept demonstrating quantum machine learning applications in the financial sector.
"The financial security marketplace demands innovation that anticipates tomorrow's threats today. By combining Unisys' quantum computing expertise with Paysafe's financial security infrastructure and NQCC's research capabilities, we're creating a detection framework with the goal of data,” said Salvatore Sinno, Unisys' vice president of innovation for Enterprise Computing Solutions. "This isn't just incremental improvement. It's a fundamental shift in how we approach financial security."
